You can think of a mentor is an ‘enabler.’ A mentor’s role is neither to do things for you nor dictate what you should or should not do. Instead, mentors will assist and support their protégés to:

  • Identify and assess areas of personal and professional growth;
  • Set clear and executable personal and professional goals;
  • Draft a clear action plan and continuously support them during the execution phase of their plans;
  • Warm, open, and patient
  • Listens attentively and asks questions
  • Consistent and reliable
